Dental Crowns

A crown, often called a “cap” is a hollow tooth utilized to cover a damaged or decayed tooth. A crown can help restore a tooth that is damaged but not lost. Dental crowns help improved the function, shape and appearance of an otherwise, severely damaged tooth, especially if there is a large filling or a root canal. A dental crown can prevent further damage to the tooth. There are many different types of crowns and your dentist can help you decide the best type of crown for your tooth. Some types are:

  • Composite Crowns
  • Porcelain Crowns
  • Metal Crowns
  • Porcelain-fused-to-metal Crowns

Crowns can last for up to 10 years, provided you take excellent care of them. They should be treated just like any of your teeth, brushing, flossing and getting regular cleanings to prevent decay or gum disease.
